In Memory of John Lewis

Statement from Liz Watson, Executive Director of the Progressive Caucus Action Fund on the death of Rep. John Lewis:

“Our hearts are heavy.  From the Edmund Pettus Bridge to the March on Washington to the Halls of Congress, Rep. John Lewis never stopped fighting for justice, freedom and the dignity of all human beings.  He was brave and unwavering and he brought joy, kindness and dedication to everything he did.  In the midst of these difficult times, we are poorer without his leadership and insight.  

As we struggle to find the way forward as a nation, we must follow Rep. Lewis’ advice: “never, ever be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble.” Our thoughts are with his family, friends and staff.”
